Severe pain, unusual bleeding, a suspected infection: acute concerns can often be scheduled on the same day. You can also see free acute appointments directly in the online booking.

Check-up

Once a year, unhurried – and with time for your questions

Consultation, gynecological examination, cervical smear and ultrasound. What makes sense depends on your age and your history. If something stands out, it is discussed right away and not in a letter three weeks later.

What a check-up includes

The first appointment

For young women: talking first, examining later

A first appointment with a gynecologist is usually a conversation and nothing else – about the cycle, contraception, vaccinations and whatever feels uncertain. Whether an examination takes place is your decision.

Fertility

When it does not work out as quickly as expected

The first assessment is unspectacular: cycle, hormone levels, ultrasound, and a semen analysis for your partner. After that you know where you stand. If you want to go further, Dr. Alexander Just is the right person – he accompanies fertility and reproductive medicine at MEDINO.

Mutter-Kind-Pass examinations, ultrasound and the questions that come up between appointments. Midwives, pregnancy yoga and pediatrics are in the same building – which makes the transition after birth easier.

When the cycle no longer fits

Severe period pain, irregular or absent bleeding, recurring infections: these are not trifles you have to put up with. There is usually a cause, and it can usually be found.

Endometriosis

Pain that no one takes seriously for years – and that has a cause

With endometriosis it often takes years to reach a diagnosis. The suspicion is taken up early and followed up: a detailed conversation about the pain and cycle history, a gynecological examination and ultrasound – all in the practice. If a procedure is needed it is carried out at the hospital; preparation and aftercare stay at the practice.

Menopause

The menopause is not a diagnosis, but it is not a side note either

Hot flushes, sleep problems, mood swings, changes in weight: much of this can be eased. Whether hormone therapy is an option depends on your history – that is discussed openly, with benefits and risks.

Where the thyroid has a say, the assessment is in-house. That spares you the detour to a second practice.

Much in women's health is not settled with a prescription: a pelvic floor that needs time after birth, the weeks before and after delivery, the question of how things go on after a disappointing diagnosis. This support takes place in the same building – you need neither a new address nor a new history for it.

Good to know

Do I need a reason for a first appointment?
No. The annual check-up is reason enough. You do not need a referral either – MEDINO is a Wahlarzt practice.
How quickly can I get an acute appointment?
Acute concerns can often be scheduled on the same day. Call us on +43 1 226 5567 or see the free acute appointments directly in the online booking.
Do you carry out the cervical smear and HPV testing?
Yes, both. Which test makes sense at your age and at what interval is discussed at the appointment.
I am afraid of the examination. What can I do?
Say so right at the start. A lot can be done differently: more time, a smaller instrument, an examination in two steps – or none at all at the first appointment. That is not a special request, it is normal.
How independent is your contraception advice?
The options are set out with their advantages and disadvantages, guided by what suits your life. There is no method that is right for everyone.
When does one speak of a fertility problem?
As a rule of thumb: after a year without a pregnancy despite regular intercourse, and from the age of 35 after six months. If your cycle is irregular or pre-existing conditions are known, come earlier.
Do you also provide pregnancy care?
Yes, including the Mutter-Kind-Pass examinations and ultrasound. Midwives, yoga and pediatrics are in the same building.
What helps with severe period pain?
First the cause: ultrasound, cycle history and, if endometriosis is suspected, a targeted assessment. After that the range runs from pain management through hormonal treatment to surgical assessment – what fits depends on the findings.
In which languages can I be seen?
In German and English with all doctors in gynecology. In addition in Arabic with OÄ Dr. Huda Ali, in Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian with Dr. Lejla Buko-Harmandic and in Hungarian with Prim. Dr. Imre Szilagyi, MBA. In birth support, doula Mona Alkhelewi accompanies in Arabic.
Can I choose who I see?
Yes. You book with a particular doctor. If it has to be quick, take the next free appointment – your records are in the building anyway.
When are you open?
Monday from 9 am to 6 pm, Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 8 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. Closed on Sunday.

On public holidays, doctors and therapists at the MEDINO Medical Centre often offer on-call services. Whether and for how long depends on which doctors are available – we usually announce it here, on Google and by phone a week in advance.
What should I bring?
Your e-card, the Mutter-Kind-Pass if you have one, previous findings and a list of your medication. If you keep a cycle calendar, bring it along.
What does an appointment cost, and what does the health insurance fund pay back?
You receive an invoice and submit it to your health insurance fund. What is reimbursed is decided by the fund. We are happy to tell you the current fees in advance by phone or by e-mail to servus@medino.at.
