Cardiology and Internal Medicine
Cardiology in Vienna – heart screening and clarity when symptoms appear
Two specialists in Internal Medicine and Cardiology · ECG, ultrasound and laboratory in-house
The heart often speaks up late. A heart check shows where you stand before anything happens – and puts things in context when symptoms are already there: palpitations, pressure in the chest, breathlessness on the stairs or blood pressure that no longer fits.

Heart check
Ultrasound, ECG and findings – discussed in the same appointment
If current blood values are available, history, ECG, cardiac ultrasound and the discussion of findings all come together inoneappointment. If they are missing, there aretwo: first the blood sample at the laboratory in the building, the doctor's appointment the following day – by then the values are available. At the end you know whether anything needs doing and what; the medical report follows.
- Monday9 am – 6 pm
- Tuesday to Friday9 am – 8 pm
- Saturday10 am – 3 pm
What the heart check includes
- Blood sample at the laboratory in the building, the day before the doctor's appointment – if no current values are available
- Detailed history including family history
- Resting ECG and blood pressure measurement
- Cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography)
- Blood count, blood lipids, blood sugar, kidney and thyroid values
- Discussion of the findings in plain language
Prevention
Knowing the risk before anything happens
Heart attack and stroke develop over years. Cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, smoking and family history together form a picture from which it can be derived what makes sense now – and what does not.
The risk is neither played down nor dramatised. You receive the figures and an assessment of what they mean for you.
In preparation:prevention packages in cooperation with supplementary insurers. The details will appear here as soon as they are available.
Rhythm
When the heart skips a beat
Extra beats are common and usually harmless – atrial fibrillation is not. The difference can be measured, and that is exactly what comes first.
In case of acute chest pain, breathlessness or loss of consciousness, please call 144. MEDINO is a practice, not an emergency department.
High blood pressure
Adjusting blood pressure means staying with it
A single high reading says little. What is meaningful are measurements across the day. Contributing factors are checked alongside and the treatment adjusted until it fits.
Cardio-oncology
Looking after the heart during cancer treatment
Some chemotherapies and targeted treatments put strain on the heart. Knowing this in advance and monitoring it allows countermeasures to be taken in good time.
The baseline is established before treatment starts, monitored during treatment and followed up afterwards – in coordination with the treating oncology team.
Your team
Who looks after you
Both doctors are specialists in Internal Medicine with a focus on cardiology.

Neighbouring specialties in the same building
Not every question about the heart ends in cardiology. These three specialties adjoin it professionally and hold consultations at the same address – a second journey is not needed.
Dr. Bamdad HeydariNuclear Medicine and thyroid. An over- or underactive thyroid changes pulse, rhythm and blood pressure. The assessment takes place in the same building.
Katharina Vafiadis-MaruszczakNutritional Medicine.Blood lipids, blood sugar, blood pressure and weight all depend on diet. Where that is a factor, it belongs to heart prevention.

Two appointments, one complete set of findings
If current blood values are available, one appointment is enough. If they are missing, there are two – the blood sample and, the following day, consultation, examination and discussion of findings in one.
