About Dr. Vafiadis-Maruszczak
Dr. Katharina Vafiadis-Maruszczak is a general practitioner with a broad, holistic view of the whole person. Alongside medicine, she studied nutritional sciences with a focus on public health.
Her medical focus lies in general and nutritional medicine, obesity and metabolic medicine, and the prevention and treatment of chronic conditions. She combines evidence-based medicine, prevention, nutrition and modern metabolic medicine with an individual, patient-centred approach.
Her aim is not only to treat illness, but to recognise its causes and risk factors early and to develop lasting solutions together with her patients.
She is currently completing her training in internal medicine in Vienna, with a focus on endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes. Her research has long centred on obesity, fatty liver disease and glucagon metabolism – including at Paracelsus Medical University in Salzburg, where she completed her PhD in 2025.
“Being a doctor is the most beautiful and the most difficult profession on earth. It demands everything: the whole person, the mind, the heart, devotion.” – Paracelsus (1493–1541)
