About me

From 22 September 2026 I will be seeing patients at the MEDINO Medical Centre as a specialist in paediatric and adolescent medicine. Being a paediatrician is, to me, the finest profession there is. To accompany children from their very first minute of life and to see them grow up healthy – that fulfils me anew every day.

Building a relationship of trust matters a great deal to me: with the young patients just as much as with their parents. Trust is the basis for everything that follows. I take my time, I listen, and I respond to the individual needs of each family.

And yes – things are allowed to be fun with me! A laugh, a game and a relaxed atmosphere take the fear away and make the visit to the practice a good experience for young and old alike.

Frequently asked questions

From what age are children seen?
Paediatric and adolescent medicine covers children from birth up to their 18th birthday – from the first preventive check-up in infancy through to adolescent medicine.
Are Eltern-Kind-Pass examinations offered?
Yes. The examinations set out in the Eltern-Kind-Pass are offered, including developmental assessment and nutritional advice as part of these appointments.
Which vaccinations are available?
Vaccination advice and vaccinations in line with the Austrian immunisation schedule are offered. We are happy to discuss beforehand which vaccinations are due for your child and how they can sensibly be combined.
What does travel medicine cover?
Travel medicine advice is open to the whole family – children as well as adults. It covers the vaccinations needed, malaria prophylaxis, the travel first-aid kit and precautions depending on the destination.
What is assessed for gastroenterological complaints?
For recurrent abdominal pain, digestive problems, faltering growth or food intolerances, a targeted assessment is carried out with history, examination and – where useful – additional diagnostics.
What is an appointment with a small child like?
There is time, and the approach is gentle. A relaxed, friendly atmosphere takes children’s fear away – play and humour are expressly part of it. Parents are present throughout the examination.

Do I need a referral?
No. As a private practice, no referral is needed – you can book an appointment directly.
What should we bring to the first appointment?
Please bring the Eltern-Kind-Pass, your child’s e-card and the vaccination record, together with – if available – previous reports, recent laboratory results and a list of any medication.
Where is the practice?
The practice is at the MEDINO Medical Centre, Auerspergstrasse 6, 1010 Vienna – centrally located and easy to reach by public transport.
Which languages does Dr. Frühmann-Polatschek speak?
Dr. Frühmann-Polatschek speaks German, English, French and Hungarian.
What does „Wahlarzt“ mean – and what happens with the costs?
MEDINO is a private practice (Wahlarztordination), so there is no direct contract with the statutory health insurers. You pay the fee yourself first and can then submit the invoice to your health insurer. What is reimbursed is decided by the fund.

The MEDINO Medical Centre brings care for the whole family together at one address: from general medicine, internal medicine and cardiology through gynaecology, fertility care and obstetrics to paediatric and adolescent medicine, urology, thyroid and nuclear medicine, mental health as well as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. Laboratory diagnostics, advice and courses complete the range. The doctors and therapists here practise independently in their own practices, yet closely connected – short distances, joint assessment, one point of contact for you. As a private practice this means flexible appointments and short waiting times.
