About me

From 1 October 2026 I will be holding consultations at the MEDINO Medical Centre as a specialist in nuclear medicine. In the course of my career I have specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid disorders. The thyroid is a small but central organ – even minor dysfunction can affect energy, weight, mood, heart and cycle. The assessment usually includes a detailed conversation, an ultrasound examination of the thyroid and the determination of the thyroid values in the laboratory. This allows over- and underactivity, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Graves’ disease or thyroid nodules to be classified reliably and treated in a targeted way. It matters to me to take my time and to explain the connections in an understandable way, so that you understand your condition and are well supported – from the first assessment through the adjustment of medication to follow-up monitoring, in pregnancy too.

You will find more on symptoms, procedure and treatment on our page about the thyroid in Vienna.

Frequently asked questions

What does Wahlarzt mean – and do I get the costs back?
MEDINO is a Wahlarzt practice, so there is no direct contract with the health insurance funds. You pay the fee yourself first and can then submit the fee note to your health insurance fund. Depending on the service, around 80 per cent of the corresponding public tariff is usually reimbursed.
How do I make an appointment?
Dr. Heydari will hold consultations at the MEDINO Medical Centre from 1 October 2026. From then on you can make appointments conveniently online through the appointment booking on medino.at or by telephone on +43 1 226 5567.
Where is the practice?
The practice is located in the MEDINO Medical Centre, Auerspergstrasse 6, 1010 Vienna – centrally located and easy to reach by public transport.
Do I need a referral?
No. As a Wahlarzt practice we do not require a referral – you can make an appointment directly.
What should I bring to the first appointment?
Please bring photo identification and your e-card as well as – if you have them – previous findings, current thyroid values (laboratory), a list of medication and earlier findings (for example an ultrasound).
How does a thyroid examination proceed?
As a rule the appointment begins with a detailed conversation (history), followed by an ultrasound examination of the thyroid and the determination of the thyroid values in the laboratory.
Which complaints can point to a thyroid disorder?
Possible signs of an underactive thyroid are tiredness, poor concentration, feeling cold, dry skin, hair loss, constipation, weight gain or low spirits. An overactive thyroid is suggested by restlessness, increased sweating, palpitations, weight loss despite appetite and trembling hands, among others.
What is Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a chronic, autoimmune inflammation of the thyroid and the most common cause of an underactive thyroid. It can be readily assessed and adjusted with medication; what matters is the correct diagnosis and regular follow-up checks.
What is Graves' disease?
Graves' disease is an autoimmune disease that leads to an overactive thyroid. Typical signs are palpitations, restlessness, weight loss and sometimes involvement of the eyes. After a careful assessment the treatment is tailored individually and monitored over time.
Do you also look after the thyroid in pregnancy?
Yes. A well-adjusted thyroid is particularly important in pregnancy. The thyroid values are monitored closely and the treatment is adapted to the changed need where required.
Do you also offer support with weight and metabolism?
Yes. Alongside the thyroid I accompany a medically supervised weight reduction focused on preserving muscle mass, with regular laboratory checks. We discuss the treatment that suits you individually in person at the practice.
Which languages does Dr. Heydari speak?
Dr. Heydari speaks German, English and Farsi.
